The local rocky mountain bighorn population has been doing very well due to some mild winters and good predator management in the area. Their numbers are very strong. In 2010, one of our clients harvested a Boone & Crockett ram.
With our growing sheep populations so in turn grows their range. We are constantly scouting out new areas and hot spots. In the last two seasons our area we pursuit sheep in has doubled. It is not uncommon to see 50+ ewes and lambs and 15-20 rams in one given day. With numbers like that it gives the hunter a far greater chance to find the ever elusive full curl Ram. The basin we hunt has excellent hunting for all species and is especially renowned for early season mule deer hunting. You must be in top physical condition to pursue bighorn as this hunt often entails a good deal of climbing.
